Welcome
Welcome
The Ecodesign Directive aims at reducing environmental impacts of energy-related products and ensuring the free movement of such products within the European Union.
The original Directive from 2005 included in its scope only energy using products (EuP) and was therefore also called the “EuP Directive”. With the recast of the Directive, which entered into force on 20 November 2009, the scope was extended to so-called energy-related products. Applying the instrument of product group specific minimum requirements, environmental impacts of such products shall be reduced. A number of stakeholders from Member States, industry and NGOs are involved extensively in the process of establishing implementing measures under the Directive.
